Face Scans for Mobile Users will Ensure More Safety
To make the telecom industry safer for users, China’s industry and information technology ministry had published a notice on “safeguarding the legitimate rights and interests of citizens online. The telecom operators will use artificial intelligence and might be some other technical means to confirm people identities when they buy a new cellphone number. The Chinese Government had also introduced real name phone registration in 2013 which means that ID cards will be linked to phone numbers. However, as AI is not operational, they want to make the overall process more transparent. When this news broke on social media, the government has to face mix emotions; however, one should appreciate China’s efforts of taking their country towards digitization in just a span of few years.
